About TCREWho are we? Started in a very grassroots manner, Twin Cities Robert Emmets Hurling Club has been working extremely hard to educate and train new hurlers in the Twin Cities area. One of the club’s first formal activities was the offering of an exhibition at the 2005 Irish Fair of Minnesota. Over the past four years, the Twin Cities Robert Emmets Hurling Club has grown to include 90 members, including both players and social participants. Approximately 80% of the club’s current members are American. The appeal and potential impact of hurling extends to Irish-Americans, Irish expatriates, and the greater Twin Cities community. Club members have found that, in particular, the sport and its speed hold great appeal for young American soccer players. At the very least, club members feel that the Gaelic game of hurling should be preserved and celebrated within the rich Irish-American community of the Twin Cities. Club board members believe that hurling can be a catalyst for inspiring Irish-Americans and non-Irish individuals in the Twin Cities community to learn more about Irish culture, following their observation or participation in the sport. As the club grows, it will maintain its commitment to educating Minnesotans about the unique sport of hurling, as well as other aspects of Irish culture. Our Mission The Twin Cities Robert Emmets Hurling Club is organized to promote and develop the amateur sport of hurling in the Twin Cities and Minnesota, as well as a sense of community among members.
